Welcome to Click, I'm Spencer Kelly,
and welcome to the Mobile world Congress in Barcelona.
This is a massive deal for all things phones, tablet and
wearable related. And, of course, over the next half an hour, we are going
to bring you all the intersting stuff from inside those halls.
But this year we are going to celebrate just how awesome
mobile technology has became.
We have left our professinal TV equipment at home,
and we are going to make the entire programme using just mobile devices.
Filming and editing. So, here's the team.
It's Mark on camera one and two, Simon on three and four.
Jen on five. Nima on six and seven.
Ben on eight, and this is Talia on nine.
It is going to be an experience,
and this is how we are going to do it.

We're using a real mix of smartphones,
all of which can of course shoot high-def video.
But that's just the most basic of our requirements.
We need these things to behave like pro cameras.
And actually, most phones will let us take them
out of full auto mode, so we can decide what part of the picture
is in focus and decide for ourselves on the exposure.
But, in order to get the best quality footage, we are
going to use some particular apps,
which we'll deal with in detail in Webscape later.

Now, there's two camera phones in particular
I wanted to show you. First one is this,
which is the Panasonic Lumix CM1.
It costs over ￡1,000, and it's got a fantastic lens on there.
You can see the colours of the flowers
and the quality of the video there.
After all, it's a Lumix with a phone on the back.
But we found that we couldn't fully lock
the exposure of the picture, which we need to do.
So as I turn the phone to something bright, it darkens the
picture, and when I point it back at something dark, it lightens the picture.
So we don't have full control.
The other phone is this one,
which is the OnePlus One.
This is less than ￡300, and it is reviewed incredibly well.
The camera is really good quality.
The guys are selling that in an interesting way, which is
why you might not have heard of it.
Basically, they are selling it at cost price, which is why it is so cheep.
And also you can only buy one if you have an invitation,
or it's a Tuesday.
さっそく、特別な2つのカメラから
ご紹介します。1つ目はこれ、
パナソニック製の“Ｌｕｍｉｘ ＣＭ１”です。
価格は1000ポンド（約18万円）以上で、素晴らしいレンズを備えています。
この花の色合い、
また精細度（品質）の高さが分かると思います。
やはり、ルミックスの特徴は通話機能を備えていることでしょう。
しかし、使ってみたところ
（我々が必要とする、）被写体を十分に捉える機能が無いようです。

そしてもう1つご紹介する端末は、
この“OnePlus One”です。
これは300ポンド（約5.5万円）以下で、非常に高い（品質）評価を受けています。
このカメラは本当によく出来ています。
これは興味深い方法で販売されており、
まだ聞いたことが無い（知らない）人が多いことでしょう。
実は、彼ら（販売元）は製造原価で販売しており、そのため安くなっているのです。
購入には紹介が必要で、1人1個の制限、
また販売は火曜日となっています。
Now, for those who aren't fans of shaky mobile wobble vision,
this mini dolly, and this battery-powerd self-steadying
gimbal, should keep things nice and smooth.
But for things to look pro, they also need to sound pro,
and this is where the phones really fall short.
The on-board microphones are fine for capturing the sounds of the
environment, but to make sure we are heard over the background,
we need clip-on mics that we can get closer to our mouths.

We are just testing out all the different phones and the microphone.

Unfortunately, none of the mics we tried,
including the market-leading road mic, which plugs straight
into the phone, sound good enough for us,
so we are using a concoction of cables and splitters to
connect our pro radio mics to the phones and our headphones.
And even then, most phones will only let you listen to the
audio before and after the recording.
Only the iPhone lets you monitor the sound during filming.
So, it will be interesting to hear the results
when you have to guess at setting the recording volume.

Back at our Barcelona base, we are voicing the programme using an
iRing Mic, plugged directly into a tablet.
We're recording through the app, and I am reading my script off of a phone.
In case we run out of storage,
we have a tonne of massive microSD cards. You see what I mean.
And in case we run out of battery, which is a real danger,
we have enough potable chargers to light up Barcelona for a week.
And then there's the editing.
We don't have our powerhouse PCs and Macs here.
We're performing the incredibly intensive task of cutting
and compiling the programme, using Pinnacle on the iPad,
and Premiere Pro, on a Surface Pro 3.
It will be a dangerous and fascinating
experiment, that might create a lot of chatter across this industry.
In fact, we've even been invited onto the TV show,
here at the event, to explain our madness.

World of mobile - assemble!
Each year the battle cry goes up, and anyone with anything vaguely
mobile to sell comes here to Barcelona.
MWC has grown hugely over the years.
This year it is split across two venues,
and it's colourful, loud and occasinally weird.
One trend which was really noticeable this year was
the shift towards biometric sensors in the phones.

Fujitsu is working on this prototype here,
which will eventually be integrated into the phone.
Which has a much better infrared light and infrared camera.
Powerful enough to scan your iris.
And use just your iris pattern to unlock the phone.
富士通が手掛けているのは此処にある試作機で、
ゆくゆくは携帯端末と統合した形になるようです。
これは赤外線と赤外線のカメラが良く出来ています。
眼球認証には十分すぎる性能です。
また眼球認証で携帯のアンロックが可能です。
You need to hold the phone about 20 centimetres from your eyes.
Registering your iris pattern takes just a few seconds.
And yes, the scanner really did seem to recognise only my eyes.
This imposter didn't get a look in.
While Fujitsu's device is only a prototype, Chinese manufacturer
ZTE claim to have something similar already installed in their S3 model.
Only it really didn't seem to work. That doesn't work.
I was accused of actually hanging the shape of my face to fool it.
Yeah!

Now, as with recent years at MWC, all eyes
were on Samsung's announcements, some of the biggest here.
In amongst them, a rival payment system to apple Pay.
The imaginatively titled Samsung Pay has teamed up with many
vendors to let you make payments using the NFC chip in your phone.
Oh, yeah, about that new phone.
近年のMWCでは、注目されてきたのは
サムスンの公式発表で、ここもその１つだ。
彼らにとって、ペイメントシステムのライバルは“apple Pay”だ。
創造的につけられた名前：“Samsung Pay”はベンダー（供給メーカー）と

Well, here is the S6.
It's got better specs than the S5, as you'd expect.
Better camera, better front facing camera, better display,
batter longer-lasting battery with a faster charge.
Uh-oh, you can't take the back off, though, so you can't change
that battery and you can't put a microSD card in either.
But this does come in a size of up to 128 gigabytes,
and it does have wireless charging, so that, I guess, is the compensation.

But this is the phone, I think, most people are talking about.
It's the S6 Edge, which Samsung hopes will give it an edge
over the competition, with a screen that bends around the edge,
and you can see there, it really is a curved screen,
so things roll round the edge as you scroll.
Samsung has given that edge a particular purpose as well.
If the phone's off, when you give it a quick rub like that, it will
bring up notifications. If you're fan of seeing a little bit of stuff
on a slightly curved surface.
しかしこの端末は、多くの人がこの部分について話題にしているようです。

My favourite thing about the S6 is when ever you get hold of one,
you also get a free large gentleman,
who follows you around until you give it back at the end of the day.

Yeah, this is one of the best spectacles here at the show,
as Sergio showed off not only his stunts,
but also the Xensor. That's with an X.
It's a motion sensor that clops onto your snowboard, skis or your bike,
and lets you watch your performance in real-time on a mobile.
Its purpose? Well, apparently, to immediately solve squabbles about
who jumped the highest, spun the fastest and shredded the most mango.

今回はClickの番組側に表記ミスが見つかりました。ハーフパイプの部分で紹介
されていたモーションセンサーの名称を“Xensor”と字幕を打っています。しかし、
調べたところ正式名称は“Xensr”です。ひょっとすると、“X”と“Sensor”を掛け合
わせて“Xensor”と表現したのかもしれませんが、何れにせよ紛らわしい部分であ
ることに変わりはないため、注意すべき部分として青の太字とします。
ちなみに、“Xensor”で検索をかけると、医療器具メーカーのWebページに到達し
ます。“Xensor”と“Xensr”の関係性は不明です。

3分の1であれば7分30秒前後が目安になります。しかし、これまで8分以上進め

この訳を組み合わせ、

れた結果、少し捻じれた表現（ミス）に繋がりました。赤字で修正を加えます。

後半部分で“トップギア”の話題が出ました。人気番組の司会者が制作担当を殴
ったことで中止となっている番組です。人気番組だけにBBCとしても収入を優先す
べきか、司会者を下ろすべきか悩みの種となっているようです。HSBCの件で国家
財政の減収が見込まれている現状では、国営放送として収益の側面を見て見ぬ
フリが出来ない状況なのかもしれません。降板・続投どちらの結果に転ぼうとも
BBCの経営陣にとっては苦い選択となりそうです。

今回の放送で個人的に気になった話題は“StoreDot”のファスト充電器です。以
前の放送でイスラエルで開発が進められていることは知っていましたが、実用段階
に入っていることは知りませんでした。Amazonのファスト充電器を普段利用してい
ますが、原理が同じなら違いはワット数なのでしょう。KindleHD6の通常の充電器で
は５Wで充電完了まで3時間以上掛かります。ファスト充電器は９Wで1時間前後で
す。数十秒で完了する・・ということは、20W前後ということでしょうか。電池交換が
可能な携帯端末だからこそ許される仕様かもしれません。今回の放送で紹介され
ていた“S6”のようにバッテリー交換が出来ない機種にとっては都合の悪い充電器
です。

端末のカメラ機能だけを使った撮影は大変でしょうね。Youtubeにアップする動画を
制作している人々にとっては当然の作業なのかもしれません。映像制作とは縁遠い私
にとっては創造のつかない領域です。しかしながら、クリックの放送がトップギアの再放
送にすり替わっていたとしたら、ガックリとした気分になっていたことは間違いありません。
