China is not all cables and chips, you know.
It's starting to become known
for its fully fledged devices too.
Until a couple of years ago, the name Huawei
would probably have meant absolutely nothing
to you in the West.
But it's now the third-biggest maker
smartphones in the world.
It certainly sees itself as a global player.
This huge company
has 170,000 employers,
60,000 of which work here
on the Shenzhen campus.

so drones will reach the parts
that others struggle to get to.
This isn't just talk.
Last month, JD revelaed their own prototypes
for carrying anything up to the size of a home computer
to China's far-flung places.

That's JD's record so how did they manage it?
Well, this is one of
more than 100 much smaller delivery centres
around Shanghai.

for the package to come from the warehouse.

we analysed the purchase pattern,
we predicted which small community
is going to have these kind of needs
and we delivered before the order even happened.

Still, robot and China's very own Stig
delivered a pretty impressive result.

[少し関係の無い話1：出来ていないこと]
これまでの導入検討で上手く進まなかった学習方式は"日本語
逆変換"です。半分折りにしたABCニュースシャワーの印刷用紙
を使い、日本語から英語に逆変換を試みることで言葉の言い回
しや表現法を吸収するつもりでした。しかし3～4日ほどで途絶
え、その後の継続に至っていません。逆変換は英語固有の表現
と日本語固有の表現の隙間を学び取るヒントが眠っています。
導入の難しいものは、部分的に意識することから始める必要が
ありそうです。
[全く関係の無い話：アップグレード]
スティック型PCのトラウマを乗り越え、ほぼ化石に近い私の
愛用PC:VGN-BX90PSのwindows10アップグレードをクローン
のサブHDDで実行しました。アップグレード自体は成功したも
のの、各種デバイスドライバに致命的な不具合が見つかりまし
た。私が確認する限り、最も深刻な部分はビデオドライバが適
用出来ないことです。機種との相性が悪いのか、8.1に移項する
要領でインストールを実行するも、ATIのバック画面が表示され
た状態で肝心のインストール画面が出ません。プログラム処理
の気配も無く、互換処理では全く進みません。別の設定や互換
無しで実行するも無残な結果に終わりました。インターネット
上で適用方法の案内サイトを幾つか発見しましたが、誘導サイ
トや誘導ツールの節が部分的に露出するものばかりで、完全な
適用方法の発見には相応の時間が掛かります。今回は見送る方
向でクローンを別保存し、今後利用する必要が有れば対処に回
るつもりです。
[少し関係の無い話2：クシャミ]
偶然にも海外出身の方で私と全く同じクシャミをする人物
を発見しました。クシャミは万国共通の音なのか、妙な親近
感を覚えます。話題の1つにするのも良いですね。

食用ワームで思い出したものはゴキブリとイナゴです。
食用として親しまれるケースもあるようで、好奇心に任
せて画像検索すると、少し後悔します。
